Trinidad and Tobago earned their first victory of the 2026 CAZOVA Men’s Final Four Championship after defeating The Bahamas in straight set
BRIENVENGAT, Curaçao, July 19, 2026.- Trinidad and Tobago earned their first victory of the 2026 CAZOVA Men’s Final Four Championship after defeating The Bahamas in straight sets (25-19, 25-13, 31-29) in an exciting encounter at the SDK Sports Hall.
The opening set was a thrilling battle from the first whistle, with both teams matching each other point for point. The scores remained level for majority of the set. Trinidad and Tobago then found another gear, pulling away late to claim the set 25-19.
The second set belonged to Trinidad and Tobago, who quickly established control with a commanding 15-5 lead. Young middle blocker #16 Austin and outside hitter #4 Stewart were instrumental in the team’s dominant performance as Trinidad and Tobago comfortably closed out the set 25-13.
Determined to keep the match alive, The Bahamas came out fighting in the third set. The teams once again traded points early before Trinidad and Tobago opened a 21-17 advantage. The Bahamas refused to back down, battling back to level the score at 25-25. After several tense rallies, Trinidad and Tobago finally secured the required two-point margin, sealing the set 31-29 and completing the 3-0 victory.
Coach Dickson of TTO while extremely satisfied with the performance and results of his team, he reflected on their entire tournament performance and encouraged his team to stay focus and maintain this level of intensity and consistency in the the bronze medal match against the same team.
Coach Stapleton of BAH explained that he is also satisfied with his team’s performance as it was an improvement from the previous matches.
He continued “Now the plan is to capitalize on what we did coming to then end of this match, as we now understand TTO playing style, make the necessary adjustments and finish this tournament strong.”
Despite the result, both teams showed resilience and determination throughout the contest. They will meet once again in the tournament’s third-place playoff, where another hard-fought battle is expected.
Trinidad y Tobago consigue su primera victoria con triunfo en sets corridos sobre Bahamas
BRIEVENGAT, Curazao, 19 de julio de 2026. – Trinidad y Tobago consiguió su primera victoria en el Campeonato Final Four Masculino de CAZOVA 2026 al derrotar a Bahamas en sets corridos 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 31-29), en un emocionante encuentro disputado en el SDK Sports Hall.
El primer set fue una intensa batalla desde el silbatazo inicial, con ambos equipos intercambiando puntos y manteniendo la igualdad durante gran parte del parcial. En la recta final, Trinidad y Tobago elevó su nivel de juego para despegarse en el marcador y adjudicarse el set por 25-19.
El segundo parcial fue dominado por Trinidad y Tobago, que tomó rápidamente el control al construir una amplia ventaja de 15-5. El joven central Austin (#16) y el atacante de esquina Stewart (#4) fueron piezas clave en el sólido desempeño de su equipo, que cerró cómodamente el set por 25-13.
Decidido a extender el partido, Bahamas salió con mayor determinación en el tercer set. Tras un inicio parejo, Trinidad y Tobago logró colocarse al frente 21-17, pero Bahamas reaccionó y empató el marcador 25-25. Luego de varios intercambios de alta tensión, Trinidad y Tobago consiguió finalmente la ventaja de dos puntos necesaria para imponerse 31-29 y sellar la victoria por 3-0.
El entrenador de Trinidad y Tobago, Dickson, se mostró muy satisfecho con el desempeño y el resultado de su equipo. No obstante, hizo un llamado a sus jugadores a mantenerse concentrados y conservar el mismo nivel de intensidad y consistencia de cara al partido por la medalla de bronce, donde volverán a enfrentar a Bahamas.
Por su parte, el entrenador de Bahamas, Stapleton, también expresó su satisfacción con la actuación de su equipo, al considerar que mostró una mejoría respecto a sus encuentros anteriores.
"Ahora el objetivo es aprovechar lo que hicimos en el cierre de este partido. Ya entendemos mejor el estilo de juego de Trinidad y Tobago, haremos los ajustes necesarios y buscaremos cerrar el torneo de la mejor manera", comentó.
A pesar del resultado, ambos equipos demostraron determinación y capacidad de lucha durante todo el encuentro. Se enfrentarán nuevamente en el partido por la medalla de bronce, donde se espera otro duelo muy disputado.
